Satin How to make a perfect looking satin? Rate Topic: -----

As usual, I found it out by accident I think.
I was always looking for good picture of satin/silk, but never could get it in desired color.
But now... easy.

Open new document in your Photoshop, 300 px width and 300 px height.
First, we'll make the effect of light falling on satin/silk.
I'm going to work with color black (#000000) and shade of purple (#a03dc9)
For this we'll use Brush Tool, size 15, hardness 50.
Now make several lines.
Here is what my looks like at this moment:


Now use your Smudge Tool, size 50, hardness 10, and pull it few times through the lines in the same direction as lines are.
Watch to not leave any piece of pure color.
This is how it looks now in my piece.


Now make a new layer and fill it with black. Put it under the layer with purple shades.

And this is the effect:



And here are several examples in other colors.





I hope this is useful for anyone!

wow i like it smile.gif but i have a question... how can you use that for example on the dress?? is that possible?? hmmm maybe it is but how?? no idea sad.gif

it would be possible, i think, but to make it look good, you (probably) need to know how the satin is gonna curve by itself, which can be tough.

I haven't treid it but thats what i think.
