Creating a textboard

Did you ever want your text in a text board? Well here’s your chance. In this tutorial we are going to make one. And when your done have fun with the result

Step 1:
Create a new file 260 X 30.
Now make the background black.

Step 2:
Create a new layer and and create a red dotted background like this.

I used elliptical marquee tool to make it because then if you want to make a new dot you can use the arrow keys to go down/up/left/right.
or create a pattern or just copy my picture ;D

Step 3:
Type the text you want with a pixel font and type it in a color that you can see easily.
Now hold ctrl and click on the T

Now grab the lasso tool click here if you don't know where it is(or press L, right mouse click on the image -> select inverse.
Now create a new layer while the area around the text is still selected and fill it with black and deselect the area.
(you can remove the text now you don’t need it anymore)

Step 4:
Now duplicate the layer and press ctrl+T and click around 15 times to the right (you can click more it depends on how fast you want it to go). Now duplicate the layer again and click again 15 times the right arrow do this until you got back to the place were you started.
now you should have something like this. Click Here.
(you may notice that some area’s in the text are not filled so fill that with black if your done)

step 5:
now you have to do 2 things.
-Duplicate the layer with the red dots and set the opacity to 30%.
-Press C to get the crop tool and make the area bigger.
Now go to the lowest layer the one you filled with black and go to layer -> layer style and aply these settings. Click Here for first part. Click Here for second part.

step 6:
now go to window -> animation select the first image now duplicate the image in the animation frame like this.

now select the second layer duplicate again and select the third layer do this until you got back to where you started

step 7:
if your have placed everything in the good way go to file -> edit in image ready
now there in the frame whith your text bar in it is a button called optimized

click on it, and mess with the setting so it comes out best (these settings are probably on the right)
now go to file save optimised as and your done.

congratulations you have made your own textboard

Hey! I've been having some troubles with the 4th step. When I click to the right the whole thing moves. Thus creating an empty space in the left. But you can only see the white part in the layers window.

Help! I would really really love to have one of my own text boards!

Hi guys..
Right i really like this idea,
but.. ive got up to step 4.

Now duplicate the layer and press ctrl+T and click around 15 times to the right (you can click more it depends on how fast you want it to go). Now duplicate the layer again and click again 15 times the right arrow do this until you got back to the place were you started.
now you should have something like this. Click Here.
(you may notice that some area’s in the text are not filled so fill that with black if your done)

could you explain it a bit more detailed for me please? smile.gif

step 5:
now you have to do 2 things.
-Duplicate the layer with the red dots and set the opacity to 30%. Can do that.
-Press C to get the crop tool and make the area bigger. yep.
Now go to the lowest layer the one you filled with black and go to layer -> layer style and aply these settings. Click Here for first part. Click Here for second part. Its locked?

nrg
i think the only thing you can do is select everything within the border (hold control and click on the picture of your layer) i think you can do this with your background layer
IPB Image
now go to select --> then inverse and then remove the unessesary part of the layers.
i hope this helped you

Ne0
1Now duplicate the layer and press ctrl+T i meant here that you have to use free transform, you can also go to edit-->free transform

2and click around 15 times to the right (you can click more it depends on how fast you want it to go) i meant here that you have to move the layer to the right you can do this by pressing 15 times to the right with the rightarrow key on your keyboard.

3arrow do this until you got back to the place were you started. if you moved the layer to the right you'll notice that the word disapear when this happens start again but then on the left side and move the layers to the right again. do this until you get your last layer back to the place where you started (in the middle).

4to the lowest layer the one you filled with black,...Its locked? i don't know why it's blocked you can try to make a new background. and then add the layer style

i hope this helped

well before you can select inverse you have to select the layer so
hold control and select the image of the layer

IPB Image
now go to select --> then inverse and then remove the unessesary part of the layers.
